Annual Black-Tie Ball raises £12,000!

More than 180 wonderful supporters from businesses across Somerset enjoyed an evening of glitz and glamour raising vital funds for St Margaret’s Hospice Care.

On Friday, 17 February guests donned their tuxedos and sparkles to dance the night away. Energised by a tantalising three-course meal energetic auction bids came through thick and fast for some fantastic prizes, donated by local businesses including signed rugby shirts in the live auction. And, raffle winners were delighted by bottles of champagne and indulgent hampers.

It was the night's silent auction that really offered prizes to wow. With trips abroad, and signed artwork pieces, the night’s fundraising total flew through the roof beating last year’s total.

Vivien Cioma, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at St Margaret’s Hospice, said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Nuffield Health and Western Provident Association (WPA), our joint sponsors for this year’s event as well as Steve Carpenter from Radio Ninesprings for compering on the night. The St Margaret’s fundraising team are delighted to have raised £12,000.”

Such vital income could pay for 120 Specialist Community Nurse visits for local patients who are being cared for at home. These nurses can help patients with everything from making sure they get the right medication to providing them with aids to help them to get around at home. All in all, ensuring that patients with life-limiting illnesses receive the care they need when they need it.

Vivien added: “We are so grateful to our wonderful supporters for being so generous and making our Annual Black Tie Ball a night to remember. The money you raised will help us to continue to care for and support patients across Somerset. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year.”
