Police patrols in Sherborne have been stepped up following an increase in cases of anti-social behaviour. The latest incidents include a wall being knocked down in Pageant Gardens and four vehicles parked on Lenthay Road having their tyres slashed. Police say they need help with catching those responsible and have asked Sherborne Town Council to install CCTV in the town centre.

A public inquiry into plans for an estate of new homes in Castle Cary has been put back until the autumn. Wyke Farms and Hopkins Development want to build on land between Castle Cary train station and the town centre. South Somerset District Council refused the application in May last year saying the homes would create "a highly conspicuous scar upon the local countryside". It’s expected the inquiry, which should have been held in May, will take place in November.

Half a million pounds has been given by the government to help towns in Somerset re-open their community facilities safely as Covid restrictions are lifted. The funding from the Department for Health and Social Care is aimed at helping to reconnect people with friends after months of living apart.

Crewkerne Town Council is inviting suggestions for naming a new road after someone with historical links to the town. Town Clerk, Rob Cottell says a number of suggestions have already been made, including that of the wife of King Harold the Second, Edith Swanneck, who once lived in Crewkerne.
