An investigation is underway into reports that dogs have fallen ill after being walked at Ham Hill Country Park, on the outskirts of Yeovil. South Somerset District Council, who manage the country park, is asking dog owners to come forward if they have concerns. The Council says its initial inquiries have produced no evidence to show that dogs walked at Ham Hill are at risk.

Police have arrested a man in connection with last Friday’s incident at a bank in Yeovil town centre. It’s alleged the man told staff at the branch in Middle Street that he was going to carry out a robbery. Police say a 32-year-old man has been detained and is helping with their enquiries.

Somerset County Council has been criticised by a High Court Judge over its adoption processes. Failures concerning information about children's health were found in 10 adoption cases. They were still lawful but the Judge said similar problems could have happened in as many as 300 other cases. The County Council has apologised to the families involved and says it’s reviewing its adoption processes.

Police have been carried out checks on a hunt at Wincanton. They say it was to prevent crime and to give reassurance to the rural community. Officers from both Avon and Somerset and Dorset attended the meeting held yesterday in the Wincanton area.

Somerset Care is marking its 30-year anniversary this week. Somerset county council was one of the first authorities to outsource its care homes and home care 30 years ago. The not-for-profit company now runs 27 care homes and also has more than 1,000 clients receiving care in their own homes.

Yeovil Town are back in action tonight. They’re playing away at Wrexham, kick-off at the Racecourse ground is at 7.45 pm
