Police are investigating a suspected arson attack on a mobile home near Yeovil. It happened at around 7 am on Tuesday on Vagg Lane in Chilthorne Domer. Crews from Yeovil, Martock and Somerton attended the blaze after a passer-by sounded the alarm. The mobile home was destroyed. There were no reports of injuries.
Somerset Council is asking people to make the most of their pumpkins this Halloween and help reduce waste. It follows figures showing that 146 tonnes of extra food waste were generated in two weeks after Halloween last year. Somerset Council’s lead member for waste services, Councillor Richard Wilkins, suggests that instead of binning pumpkins, people make pumpkin cheesecake, soup, or roast the seeds.
