Ilminster Warm Spaces

A project in Ilminster to provide people with a warm space to meet with others and make new friends has moved to a new location.

Ilminster’s Warm Spaces has stopped using the Minster Rooms for meetings and moved to the circular lounge at Muchelney House, on the corner of Canal Way and Wharf Lane.

Meetings are run by the Quakers and the Women’s Institute, with support from Abri and Tesco, and take place every Sunday between 2 and 4 pm.

A spokesperson for Ilminster Warm Spaces has thanked the owners of Muchelney House for providing the room, which they describe as ideal for their meetings.

The idea behind the Warm Spaces initiative is to provide people with a warm space to meet, whether they seek extra warmth, cannot afford to heat their own homes because their fossil fuel-fed boiler has broken down or they refuse to use a fossil fuel-fed boiler
    for environmental reasons.

Volunteers from the Quakers and WI organise light entertainment, games and films at the meetings, with extra space provided for people to have quiet time. Tea or coffee with sandwiches and cake are provided free.
