A new website has been launched to support people in Somerset with mental health issues. One of Yeovil’s oldest pubs has been sold. People in Somerset experiencing mental health issues are being encouraged to visit a new website. The Open Mental Health Alliance website lists nineteen Somerset-based organisations that provide mental health support. Speaking as part of Mental Health Week, Helen Fielden of Rethink UK says those requiring support will find all the information they need on the website.

One of Yeovil’s oldest pubs has been sold. The Pall Tavern on Silver Street, a Grade II Listed building dating back to the early 18th century closed last September. Whether the Pall Tavern will reopen as a pub or be turned into flats is unknown.

Two hundred staff at Somerset Council have been accepted for voluntary redundancy as part of attempts by the Council to avoid bankruptcy. Of those, forty-nine will each receive redundancy payments of more than one hundred thousand pounds.

Artwork produced by students at Yeovil College has gone on display at Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil. Students were tasked with producing artwork on the theme of aviation, with the best pieces given a permanent home in the boardroom at Leonardo's.

Somerset’s mobile reuse initiative, Fixy, has been recognised for encouraging the repair and reuse of broken electrical items. The project, which is managed by Resource Futures in partnership with Somerset Council and Donate IT, has been shortlisted in the Reuse Initiative of the Year category at the Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management.

A pupil at Tatworth Primary School near Chard has won a prize in a national competition for writing a book review. Isabella Collins a Year-3 pupil at Tatworth Primary came third with her review of 'Out of Nowhere' by Chris Naylor-Ballesteros, in a competition organised by the magazine Reading Plus.
