Yeovil’s MP, Adam Dance, has added his voice to those criticising this week’s Channel 4 documentary on ADHD. The programme argued that behaviour in many cases could be managed through environmental, societal and educational changes. The charity ADHD UK and the Royal College of Psychiatrists issued warnings following the show’s transmission, whilst Channel 4 says it’s “legitimate to challenge conventional understandings”. Dance was diagnosed with ADHD when he was seven years old.

Visitors can now explore more of Ham Hill, following the arrival of a a new off-road mobility scooter hiring scheme. Somerset Council is working in partnership with Disability Together to introduce a so-called ‘Tramper’, which will be available from the Ham Hill Visitor Centre. The off-road scooter will make it easier for those with limited mobility to fully navigate the site’s landscapes.

Young people are being encouraged to join the Ilminster Carnival children’s procession, which returns this autumn. The procession, on Saturday October 3^rd, is open to ages up to 16 with opportunities for individuals, pairs and groups to all take part. Details can be found at the Ilminster Carnival website.

A firework display planned for this Saturday in Watchet has been cancelled, following concerns raised after several recent wildfires. The display was to mark the finale of the Watchet Summertime but organisers say they've had a change of heart.

A Roman ring, discovered near Ilminster, is now on display at the town’s Arts Centre after being bought by the South West Heritage Trust. The coin, showing goddess Victoria, has been acquired by the trust, alongside a collection of 297 coins found nearby, at a cost of £78,000, meaning the hoard will remain in Somerset.
