    Yeovil MP Adam Dance is calling for Yeovil Hospital to be included in the national review of NHS maternity services. Speaking in the Commons, Mr Dance said he was concerned that an investigation into the maternity unit in Yeovil, which is currently closed, would not be included in the national review. Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, has yet to respond to Mr Dance’s question.

    A Yeovil man has appeared in court charged with four counts of fraud. The charges relate to several incidents in which credit accounts were allegedly created between 2021 and 2024. Ben Millin of Roping Road in Yeovil was remanded in custody to appear at Taunton Crown Court on Friday, July 18th.

    Unions say they’re concerned about a planned cost-cutting measure to replace emergency service co-responders with local volunteers. Currently, South Western Ambulance pays local fire stations £280,000 a year to provide the service. Tristan Ashby, Chief Executive of the Fire and Rescue Services Association, says using volunteers to provide the co-responders service would be a mistake.

    Parts of the Great Western Railway's mainline are to get better mobile network coverage. GWR has engaged Neos Networks to install an ultra-fast fibre optic cable along 600 miles of track, including through Somerset.

    An event has been held to mark the 25th anniversary of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Volunteers, ex-patients, crew, and supporters gathered at the Fleet Air Arm Museum to mark the quarter century of the life-saving charity. CEO Charles Hackett said it wasn’t just a celebration of the service but of the donors, patients, volunteers, team members, and partners who had supported the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance over the past 25 years.

    Yeovil Town players will be modelling the club’s new home and away strips at an event at the club’s ground this evening. Party at the Park, featuring music, food, and a licensed bar, along with activities for children, kicks off in the Fans Zone at Huish Park at 6 pm.
