So-called ‘bleed kits’ have been installed in Yeovil this week – with the Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership appealing for local businesses to come forward as locations for further installations. As it stands, there are 7 bleed kits in the town, which help to prevent life-threatening bleeding from injuries such as stab wounds.

The existing locations include HSBC on Middle Street and Dominos on Wyndham Street and have been fully funded by the Avon & Somerset Police & Crime Commisioner. They are particularly interested in locations on High St,Wine St, Union St, Newton Rd, Market St and around the bus station.

Herne View Primary School in Ilminster are celebrating after being award the Skills Builder Partnership Gold Award. This comes after a two year collaboration with the organisation, set up with the aim to help the youth master essential life skills. The initiative involves assisting pupils in listening, speaking, problem-solving, creativity, staying positive, aiming high, leadership and teamwork.

Somerset's Trading Standards says there are new scams doing the rounds linked to parking charges and even fake QR codes being pasted in car parks. You're advised to forward any suspicious texts to the National Cyber Security Centre on 7726.

And Somerset Council could lose more than ten per cent of its current elected members as part of an upcoming boundary review. The plans - discussed at a full council meeting yesterday - will see the number of Councillors cut from 110 to 96. The Local Government Boundary Commission for England intends to carry out a review ahead of the next local elections in Somerset. Public consultations will be carried out before next summer.
