Work has started demolishing Glovers Walk in Yeovil with contractors disconnecting utilities and removing hazardous materials. Somerset Council, who bought the empty shopping centre using money provided by the previous Conservative government, says the job of knocking down the buildings will start in the New Year with the site levelled by the end of March. The council says a passenger waiting room and public toilet will be provided within Yeovil bus station during the period of the demolition work.

Chard Town Football Club says being given planning permission for a new ground is a huge step forward not just for the Club but for sport in general in Chard. The ground will be built on the northern edge of the town alongside a development of 295 new homes.

Police are appealing for information in connection with the theft of farm equipment and a Land Rover from near Bruton. A green and yellow John Deere tractor, an Ifor Williams triple-axle trailer and a green Land Rover were taken from properties in Cole and Hadspen over the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd and later found by police in Hadspen and returned to their rightful owners. If you have any information about the thefts that would help the Police, you’re asked to please call the non-emergency number 101.

A shop in Chard has closed after 42 years trading in the town. The owners of clothing store, Barrons on Holyrood Street, have retired and closed the business after failing to find someone to take it over.

Radio Ninesprings afternoon Presenter Victoria Welton has been named South West Wedding Photographer of the Year. It’s the fourth year in succession that Vicky, who was judged for the quality of her work displayed on her website and customer feedback, has won the top title in the Prestige Awards.

It’s the turn of Crewkerne to switch on the Christmas lights tonight. A big crowd is expected in the Market Square by the Town Hall for the switch-on at 7 pm. There will be live entertainment, street food, and Father Christmas arriving on his sleigh.
