Days after Martin Hellier resigned as Chairman of Yeovil Town, Interim Chairman Stuart Robins says Mr Hellier will continue to invest in the club for now. Martin Hellier stepped down earlier this week, blaming online abuse from Yeovil fans for his decision. Stuart Robins says Mr Hellier’s financial backing is critical to keeping the club afloat, although a new owner is needed to provide financial stability over the longer term.
Six people, including two from Chard, have been jailed for their involvement in a drugs supply network. Taunton Crown Court was told Police had seized cocaine worth £2.4 million from their various addresses. Those sentenced included Devon Feltham, aged 32, of Birch Grove, in Chard, who was jailed for 12 years and Courtney Feltham, aged 24, also of Birch Grove, was jailed for 10 years. Both men had admitted charges of conspiracy to supply cocaine. The four others had addresses in Norton Fitzwarren and Weston-super-Mare.
Final preparations are being made for this weekend’s Ilminster 10k race. The mixed on-road and off-road run starts from the Archie Gooch Pavilion at 10 am on Sunday. Profits from the race will be shared between the Minster Milers Running Club and the Ferne Animal Sanctuary near Chard.
Chard Tennis Club's A team has won the Yeovil and District Winter League's Division One title. They secured the top spot with a match to spare, winning 10 out of 12 matches. The club is holding an open day with a day of free tennis for new members to join on Saturday, May 10th.
