    Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a woman was punched by a man in a Yeovil supermarket car park. It happened at Asda on Preston Road at around 5 pm on Thursday, April l4th. The woman suffered bruising and was treated for concussion at Yeovil Hospital. The man is described as white, aged in his 20’s, slim, and around 5ft 10in tall with short, dark blond hair. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to please call the non-emergency number 101.

    Up to eighty new jobs could be created in Chard with the opening of a new care home. It follows the granting of planning permission to the Maria Mallaband Care Group to build a new care home for seventy residents on East Street. The scheme was approved by planning officers at Somerset Council through delegated powers with construction expected to begin by the end of the year.

    A new junction could be built off the M5 to provide a link to the gigafactory being built on the Gravity campus at Puriton near Bridgwater. Somerset Council says the new motorway junction will be funded from the £150 million provided by the government to build new infrastructure around the Gravity site.

    A man's been charged with a fatal collision in Street in March last year in which a woman died. Reece McKinven is accused of causing death by careless driving and possession of cannabis. He's due to appear at Taunton Crown Court next month.

    A para-swimmer from Somerset is seeking to inspire more young people with disabilities to take up swimming. Sophie York, who’s 14, has just returned from the Dwarf Sports Association UK National Games. She's hoping the Paralympics at which she’s competing will encourage more disabled people to take up swimming as a sport.

    Chard-based youth theatre group, Cloks, will stage the musical ‘Crazy for You’ for their next show. The group which provides young people with the chance to sing, act, dance and become involved in all aspects of theatre will perform the Broadway classic over three nights at Chard Guildhall beginning Thursday, July 4th.
