    People in Somerset are being asked to give money to the earthquake appeal for Turkey. Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident in which a woman pedestrian was killed in Mosterton. Motorists are being reminded that from Monday for ten days one of Yeovil’s busiest roads will be shut to traffic. A public meeting is being held in Yeovil to discuss plans to centralise emergency stroke care services in Somerset...and more.

    People in Somerset are being asked to give money to help those whose lifes have been destroyed by the earthquake in Turkey. Donations should be made online to the UK's Disasters Emergency Committee Appeal or by texting Radio to 70787. The money will be used for medical aid, emergency shelter, food and clean water in the affected areas. If you have items of bedding and clothing to donate to Turkey please take them to the collection point at the Redlief Care Home on Preston Road in Yeovil.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident in which a woman pedestrian was killed and two others seriously injured after a car left the road in Mosterton. Police say the vehicle was travelling through Mosterton when it crashed into a wall and struck two women and a young boy on a footpath at around 8.15 pm on Wednesday night. A man from Yeovil – believed to be driver of the car - was arrested at the scene. If you witnessed the accident or have dashcam footage of a silver Mercedes convertible being driven through Mosterton on Wednesday night, please call the police non emergency number 101.

    Motorists are being reminded that from Monday one of Yeovil’s busiest roads will be shut. The A3088 Cartgate Link between the Cartgate roundabout and the Garador roundabout will stay closed for ten days from Monday for the removal of diseased trees. The A30 between Crewkerne and Chard will also be shut on Monday.

    Young people with special educational needs are helping to run a new cafe in Ilminster. The Gamesmaster Cafe serves food and drink and offers customers the change to play board games. 

    A public meeting is being held in Yeovil to discuss plans to centralise emergency stroke care services in Somerset. The proposal could see people who’ve suffered a stroke taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton rather than Yeovil Hospital for treatment. The meeting, with questions to NHS Somerset, takes place at Yeovil Rugby Club, off Dorchester Road, on Tuesday 21st of February, starting at 2 pm.
