Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh is raising concerns about the government’s new clampdown on Covid. He’s unhappy about making it compulsory to wear face masks in public places and also people having to prove they’ve been doubled jabbed when attending large events. Mr. Fysh wants an easing of the restrictions before MP’s vote on the changes next week.

It’s been revealed that eight people aged over 60 in Somerset have died in the last two years due to domestic abuse. A new domestic abuse service is now being planned by the Safer Somerset Partnership.

Work has been completed at Yeovil Library making it greener and more energy-efficient. A new air source heat pump has been installed, lamps have been changed to LEDs, new thermally efficient windows fitted, and more insulation added to the building. The investment is part of a wider Somerset County Council scheme to make all its buildings more environmentally friendly.

A couple in Tintinhull, famous for the Christmas lights outside their home, say this Christmas will be the last time they put on the display at the house. The huge illuminated displays in the garden at the home of Dan and Mark Extance-Warr have raised thousands of pounds for local good causes over the years. However, Dan says they now plan to move the Christmas light show to a bigger venue, away from Tintinhull.
