The Chair of Yeovil Conservative Association, Huw Lawford has come out in support of Boris Johnson following calls for the PM to resign in the row over him attending a drinks party at the height of the Covid lockdown in May 2020. An inquiry, to establish if the gathering in the grounds of 10 Downing Street broke any lockdown rules, is now underway.

Work has started on a £7 million project to expand Holyrood Academy in Chard. The scheme, in which the former Cresta swimming pool on the school site will be demolished, includes building a new student dining area, six classrooms, new office spaces and meeting rooms, as well as a single point of entry into the school. It will increase Holyrood’s capacity by an extra 225 places to help meet demand for school places at a time when Chard’s population is growing.

A care home in Castle Cary has been rated 'inadequate' by the Care Quality Commission. Their report highlighted concerns about safety and leadership at the Hollies Care Home in Florida Street, Castle Cary. The home will now be re-inspected within the next six months.

South Petherton has been dubbed one of the coolest places to live in the UK. In a list of the 12 coolest postcodes to move to in 2022 in The Times newspaper, TA13, which includes South Petherton, is rated as amongst the trendiest places in the country. The Times says that Bruton has boiled over as a place to live and that the more stylish members of the posh-welly brigade are now migrating half-an-hour down the road to South Petherton.

Yeovil Town will be looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow when they take on Needham Market in the fourth round of the FA Cup Trophy, a competition they won back in 2013. The game at Huish Park kicks off at 3 pm. Tickets are priced at £10.
