A rare 1975 Ford Escort has been put up auction at Hayne's Motor Museum at Sparkford. It’s one of only a handful of Mark 1 RS2000 models still in existence and will need of a lot of attention to make it roadworthy. While more than four million Escorts rolled off the production line, only 5,334 RS2000's were built, with just 3,759 for the UK. The car, which will be sold with a reserve of twenty-thousand pounds, goes under the hammer at the Haynes International Motor Museum on Wednesday 24th July.

Police are investigating the theft of a ladies handbag and bank cards from a car at Ham Hill Country Park. Thieves struck after the Vauxhall Corsa was left unattended for about two hours in a public car park at the beauty spot. Anyone with information that could assist the police is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

Rail passengers using the London line through Castle Cary have continued to experience major problems. It follows the discovery last weekend of hairline cracks in the chassis of nearly all of GWR’s trains.

People that were due to have a Covid jab at Dillington House on Wednesday this week are being asked to book new appointments. All of Wednesday’s appointments had to be cancelled when a fault was found with a fridge storing vaccines.
