Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a boy was threatened with what’s believed to have been a firearm in Yeovil and plans to spend twenty-nine million pounds on an extension to Yeovil’s Octagon Theatre have moved a step closer.
Yeovil and South Somerset have been left at a virtual standstill with the arrival of Storm Eunice bringing with it extreme high winds and putting lives at risk. Schools, including Yeovil College, are shut, train and bus services disrupted, with people staying at home and not travelling. No waste bins are being collected and re-cycling centres have closed. Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a boy was threatened with what’s believed to have been a firearm in Yeovil. It happened when he was approached by two other boys riding e-scooters, who pointed a weapon, in an alleyway leading to Abbey Manor Park at around 9 pm on Sunday, 6th February. Anyone who has video footage of two boys riding e-scooters in the area of Abbey Manor Park on the date in question is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.
Plans to spend twenty-nine million pounds on an extension to Yeovil’s Octagon Theatre have moved a step closer. Yesterday, members of South Somerset District Council’s Executive agreed to provide an additional £6 million to the project. The scheme will see the Octagon’s seating capacity increased to nine hundred, with two boutique cinemas, a studio space, bigger dressing rooms, a new café and restaurant being built. The project still has several more stages to go through before it’s definite and work starts.
