    Chinnock Hollow Landslide

    A road on the outskirts of Yeovil, closed by a landslide, is not expected to reopen until late 2023. Somerset County Council has welcomed the government's levelling up plans for Somerset.     A road on the outskirts of Yeovil, closed by a landslide, is not expected to reopen until late 2023. Chinnock Hollow linking East Chinnock and Odcombe shut to traffic in February last year. It’s the third time the date to reopen the road has been changed. Somerset County Council says repairs to the road won’t start until further geotechnical checks have been made on the roadside embankment.

    Somerset County Council has welcomed the government's levelling up plans for Somerset that will see greater investment in local schools and Further Education Colleges. 

    People in Somerset are being encouraged to talk more about mental health. Mind in Somerset says people still struggle to discuss their mental health issues with friends and family.

    Organisers of Somerset Day are asking for nominations of interesting places to visit in Somerset. It’s to set up a visitor trail, representing the best buildings and landscapes in the County, as part of Somerset Day 2022. 

    A 100-year-old Crewkerne woman says regular exercise has helped her live to a great age. Bea McMorris, who, not surprisingly, is the oldest member of the Crewkerne Body Awareness and Stretching group, says the best way to stay active in older age is to do regular exercise.
