Hospitality businesses in South Somerset hit by Covid say government financial support for the sector can't come soon enough. South Somerset District Council is offering grants to businesses whose turnover has been impacted by the pandemic. Details of how to apply can be found on the South Somerset District Council website.

It’s been made a lot easier to report potholes in South Somerset. The County Council has launched a new website for complainants to upload photos of potholes and pinpoint on a map exactly where a road is damaged. The details are then passed to an engineer for the pothole to be filled in.

There’s good news from people in Crewkerne and have had garden equipment stolen. Dozens of garden tools, including hedge cutters, lawnmowers, rotavators and chainsaws have been recovered by police. If you think some of the items belong to you, you can claim them back by calling the police non-emergency number 101.

The Government’s set out plans to pay farmers and landowners to create nature reserves and to help re-wild the countryside. The scheme’s part of a new post-Brexit system to replace EU subsidies.
