Police are seeking witnesses to a crash in which a bus collided with metal railings in Sherborne. The incident involving a vehicle belonging to First Bus of Somerset happened near the junction between Coldharbour and Greenhill at around 8.15 am last Friday. No one on the bus or the footpath was injured. If you witness the incident, you’re asked to call the police non-emergency number 101.

The government has given Somerset £3.8 million to hand out to families struggling to pay their bills this winter. The bulk of the money, £1.7 million, will be distributed by Somerset Citizen's Advice to help households with food, utility bills, and other essentials. Around £1.1 million has already been used on food vouchers for children eligible for free school meals

A bird of prey sanctuary in Chard is seeking funding to build a treatment room. Sharandy’s Birds of Prey sanctuary says the treatment room it currently uses for injured birds is no longer fit for purpose. They’re looking to raise £2,500 to build the new hospital unit.

A group in Ilminster is planning to plant 7000 trees in and around the town. Peter Lansdown of the Ilminster Tree Project says the aim is to plant a tree for every person living in Ilminster. He asked local landowners to help by providing land to plant the trees.

A local farmer is planning to open an archaeological visitor centre on the Blackdown Hills. Marc Cox says the centre will showcase the history of the Blackdown Hills and give people holidaying or travelling through the County, an interesting place to visit.
