Calls for more Government investment in research and development have been made at a West of England Aerospace Forum held in Yeovil. Industry leaders say climate change and the pandemic, together with other countries spending more on R and D, have put companies in the South West more at risk. Peter Marchbank speaks for the Forum. He says the UK has the skills but what’s needed is for the government to invest further in the sector.

Young people in Somerset are being urged to have their say on how the county tackles climate change. The Somerset Youth Parliament is being invited to join two zoom sessions with MPs and members of the County Council to discuss ideas.

Plans have been submitted to convert buildings on a World-War-Two transmitter site at Somerton for residential use. The application to South Somerset District Council shows six dwellings will be created, together with parking and landscaping, and three new dwellings built on the site in Watts Quarry Lane.

New research from the charity Help for Heroes shows that nearly three-quarters of veterans struggle with their mental health every day. Servicemen and women from RNAS Yeovilton are among those who the charity helps.

Tintinhull’s famous Christmas lights are set to be bigger than ever this year. The show-stopping display in the front garden of Dan and Mark Extance-Warr's home has become an annual attraction. The couple says this year’s illuminated display, which will be lit on December 1st, will for the first time stretch into the back garden of their home.
