    Somerset’s Director of Public Health says some parts of the County are still experiencing increased cases of Coronavirus.     Somerset’s Director of Public Health says some parts of the County are still experiencing increased cases of Coronavirus.
    Although the average rate in the region as a whole has fallen, cases in Sedgemoor, Mendip and here in South Somerset have risen. Trudi Grant believes it maybe due to Lockdown Fatigue.

    Preston School in Yeovil has been rated as ‘good’ following an inspection by Ofsted. Following an inspection in 2019, Ofsted said Preston School was ‘requiring improvement, the same rating they gave in 2017. Principal of Preston School, Gregg Morrison said everyone at Preston was extremely pleased to have received such a positive report from Ofsted, this time around.

    Plans have been submitted to convert Castle Cary Post Office for residential use. Permission is being sought from South Somerset District Council to turn the building in Bailey Hill into apartments.

    The Somerset Community Foundation is thanking people for  supporting its ‘Surviving Winter Appeal’. £160,000 was raised in donations – far in excess of the target. The funds were used to help people in greatest need pay their energy bills.

    A charity in Somerset that takes-in unwanted laptops to give to school children has said the pandemic has highlighted a digital divide in the County. SCHol has refurbished and given out 108 laptops since January to children in the greatest need to help with their home learning. 

    A Yeovil man is planning to walk the length of Hadrian's Wall dressed as the cartoon character - Where’s Wally. Billy-Joe Wilsher who will be raising money for Cancer Research and is hoping that dressing as ‘Where's Wally’ will get him more noticed.
