A three-day music festival in Yeovil has been given the go-ahead despite concerns. The Somerset Tribute Festival will be staged at Yeovil Showground over the Bank Holiday weekend and feature tributes to Nirvana, Blondie, AC/DC and the Stereophonic. Avon and Somerset Police had objected to the event but South Somerset District Council has given it the go-ahead on condition the organisers put in place certain safety precautions and government restrictions on Covid.

Families fighting school closures in Ilminster and Crewkerne have been granted permission to challenge the decision in the High Court. Somerset County Council voted earlier in the year to scrap the three-tier education system in the two towns and replace it with a two-tier structure. The council said it was necessary due to reduced pupil numbers. However, objectors claim the decision was unlawful and will have their case heard at the High Court in Cardiff on October 14 and15th.

Work’s started on improving the look of Chard town centre. The multi-million-pound re-generation project includes repairs to historic buildings and shop fronts in Fore Street, Holyrood Street, Boden Street with the aim of restoring the town's historic character.

The Freemasons in Somerset are supporting an initiative to support women suffering domestic abuse. They’ve produced a pack detailing the services available to help women in abusive relationships and who have had to escape domestic violence.
