    Around one thousand GP appointments a month are being freed up in Somerset through a new service provided by pharmacists. A Yeovil motorist has been fined £440 after being caught driving at 93 miles per hour on the A30 at Babylon Hill.     Around one thousand GP appointments a month are being freed up in Somerset through a new service provided by pharmacists. Community pharmacists are seeing people with minor skin conditions as well as cough, colds, and hay fever. The link-up was launched earlier this year to ease pressure on GP surgeries and improve access for patients. 

    A Yeovil motorist has been fined £440 after being caught driving at 93 miles per hour on the A30 at Babylon Hill, on the outskirts of Yeovil. Daniel Bovey, of Monmouth Road in Yeovil, also had four penalty points added to his licence when he appeared before magistrates in Weymouth.

    A group of apprentices from Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil have been meeting MP’s at Westminster. They were attending an event organized by trade body ADS as part of a campaign to boost the number of apprenticeships nationally.

    The Arts Council in the South West has confirmed it's extending its grant scheme supporting to small music venues. It was due to be the final year for applications to the £1.5 million pound fund set aside by the Lottery Fund to support venues following the pandemic. It's now been extended to further support recovery. 

    A Yeovil motorist has been given a six months driving ban for being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink. Appearing at Exeter Magistrates Court, James Fletcher, of Cedar Grove, in Yeovil, pleaded guilty to the charge and was also a fined £150.

    South Somerset District Council has given funding for the purchase of two shipping containers to use as classrooms at an outdoor education centre in Merriott. The charity ‘Acts of Random Kindness’ provides day services for young people and adults with learning disabilities teaching them practical skills to improve their welfare.
