It’s been reported that more than 400 people living within the Martock postcode TA12 6 have won a share of a £7.3 million jackpot prize in the People’s Lottery September draw. The full winning postcode will be revealed at a cheque presentation at Kingsbury Episcopi Community Centre, this Friday, October 1st. Ticket holders have been told they have won a minimum of £5,000 but it’s thought the final amount could be higher.

Just over 8,000 EU nationals were granted permission to stay living in the South Somerset post-Brexit, according to the Home Office. It shows 4,980 people were granted settled status and 3,370 pre-settled status in the district council area by the deadline set by the Government for new applications following Brexit of June 30th. Around 380 applications were refused. The highest number of successful applications were from Poland, followed by Romania and Portugal.

Buses of Somerset has apologised for some timetabled services being cancelled. They say due to ongoing staff absences related to sickness and Covid some routes are not running as normal. Buses of Somerset says it's doing all it can to minimise the disruption.

Police are appealing for information following an attack on a boy in Yeovil. It happened at Mudford Recreational Ground, off Mudford Road, on Thursday, August 26th, at around 3 pm. It’s understood three boys carried out the attack in which the boy suffered head injuries. Police would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has any information, or video footage, to help identify the offenders. If you can help, please call the non-emergency number 101.

Two roads destroyed by June’s major flooding event in Chard have re-opened. Somerset County Council says work re-surfacing Scrapton Lane in Combe St Nicholas and Pudleigh Lane in Wadeford has been completed. Meanwhile, resurfacing work continues on six more roads in Combe St Nicholas, Whitestaunton, Wadeford, Tatworth and Forton throughout the next few weeks.
