Businesses in South Somerset are being warned to watch out for scammers trying to access their accounts. Avon and Somerset Police say Payment Diversion Fraud has become a major problem for local companies. It involves scammers telling businesses that a change has been made in a recipient's bank details and that they need to make the payment again, but to a different bank account.

Somerset-based charity Compass Wellbeing is putting together welcome boxes for Ukrainian refugees arriving in the County. The boxes include essential items like food but also items to help ease anxiety for children and adults.

Tickets are now on sale for two big events in Yeovil for Ukraine. ‘Concert for Ukraine’ takes place at The Octagon Theatre this Friday, April 1st, with performances from The Trinity Entertainers, Yeovil African Drumming Group, Project Dance, Matthew Rock and a host of other artistes. ‘Rock for Ukraine’ takes place at Westland’s Entertainment Venue on Friday, April 22nd with Bad Cowboys and Snakebyte live on stage. Funds raised at both events will be given to School in a Bag’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal and the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

A Yeovil woman has been fined after pleading guilty to using a handheld mobile device while driving. Sharna Keay, of Westfield Road, was spotted using the device while driving a van on Lysander Road in Yeovil. Apart from being fined £60, Keay had six penalty points added to her driving licence.

A new community hub is being set up in the centre of Chard. Volunteers who ran the town's Coronavirus support helpline are behind the project, which is due to open in the next two months.
