The rate at which Coronavirus vaccinations are given out in South Somerset is expected to slow over the next few weeks. It follows a delay in delivering five million Oxford-AstraZeneca doses from India to the UK. Dr Alex Murray of the Somerset NHS Clinical Commissioning Group how says it’s a setback but only a temporary one.

Somerset's Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local businesses to register as potential suppliers to HS2. The numbers expressing an interest in the high-speed rail project from Somerset have been significantly lower than elsewhere in the UK. Applications are being sought from all types of businesses, including those who supply catering and design services.

After almost a decade in the role, Avon and Somerset's Police and Crime Commissioner is stepping down. Sue Mountstevens has been in the post since 2012. She says she feels that she has shown that having a police and crime commissioner does make a difference.

A twenty-three million pound upgrade to the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil has been given the final go-ahead. The building is to get more capacity to support staging bigger shows. ten million pounds towards expanding the Octagon has come from the government.

Children in South Somerset on free school meals are to get food vouchers this Easter. The County Council has given 15 pounds a week for eligible children for them to be given vouchers over the Easter holiday. Schools have been given additional funding to help other children in need of support.

A Chiselborough man has been fined £800 after pleading guilty to drink driving. Peter Lambert of Fairplace in Chiselborough was stopped by police while driving in Martock. Magistrates in Yeovil were told that Lambert committed the offence during the period of a suspended sentence.
