    More financial support is being given to people in Somerset struggling with the cost of living. Somerset County Council has published a list of sixty roads in South Somerset that will be resurfaced this summer. A wreath-laying ceremony is being in Sherborne tomorrow (5th July) to mark the 50 anniversary of a fire at Coldharbour Hospital. Age UK in Somerset says more funding's needed in the adult social care sector in order to speed up patient discharges from hospitals...and more.

    More financial support is being given to people in Somerset struggling with the cost of living. It follows the government allocating an extra £3.8 million pounds to the Somerset Household Support Fund. The money is available for claiming to the end of September, with £1.2 million pounds used during the school holidays to provide food vouchers.

    Somerset County Council has published a list of sixty roads in South Somerset that will be resurfaced this summer. The Council says the works needed to improve traction and stop potholes from forming. See below for the roads to be resurfaced:

    A wreath-laying ceremony is being in Sherborne tomorrow (5th July) to mark the 50 anniversary of a fire at Coldharbour Hospital in which 30 people died. The ceremony takes place in Sherborne Cemetary at 4 pm tomorrow. A memorial service to remember those who died is being held in Sherborne Abbey at 6 pm on Sunday, 10 July.

    Age UK in Somerset says more funding's needed in the adult social care sector in order to speed up patient discharges from hospitals. Several organisations in the region are warning so-called bed-blocking is rising with the pandemic making things worse. 

    Some big-name personalities have been confirmed to appear at this year’s Yeovil Literary Festival that takes place in October. It's the 9th Yeovil literary festival and tickets are now on sale. 

    Work’s been completed on modernizing the Memorial Hall in West Coker. New windows have been fitted, a new floor laid and masonry repairs carried out, thanks to a grant of £6,000 from South Somerset District Council.
