Police are seeking witnesses to an accident in Yeovil involving two e-scooter riders and a car. It happened on Sherborne Road in the early hours of last Friday. The two e-scooter riders were taken to hospital with injuries and the driver of the car drove off from the scene of the collision without stopping. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a local man wanted in connection with an investigation into an assault. Jermaine Blakemore, aged 30, who has links with the Wincanton area, is described as white, about 5ft 10ins, of average build, with brown eyes, and dark cropped hair.

Opposition is growing over plans to build a solar farm on 120 acres of land at Pipplepen Farm near South Perrott. The proposed site, equivalent to 60 football pitches, would generate around 32 megawatts of power, enough to meet the annual electricity needs of 10,000 homes. Writing on the South Somerset District Council website, local residents claim the development would have a negative impact on tourism, on the area’s heritage, and the local environment. Elgin Energy announced its plans for the solar farm over a year ago and submitted a planning application to South Somerset District Council in April.

A Chard woman has appeared in court charged with assault. Sarah Welch, of Furnham Road, pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined £108 and made the subject of a community order by magistrates in Yeovil.

All pre-packaged food in Somerset needs to show a full list of ingredients beginning this week as Natasha's Law comes into effect. The change is aimed at helping people who have severe food allergies.
