    New bus routes and running times take effect in Yeovil from today. The 51 bus from Yeovil bus station to Abbey Manor Park now travels via Thorne Lane and Larkhill Road and runs every 30 minutes. The 53 bus to Wessex Road has been withdrawn from service. The peak-time direct bus between Yeovil and Taunton College continues to run as normal. The changes are a result of a review of bus passenger numbers following the pandemic.

    Plans have been submitted to convert the former children's play centre ‘Jungle Jungle’ in Yeovil into a meat warehouse. ‘Jungle Jungle’ on the Lufton Trading Estate closed last year after 28 years of operating. Wild and Game, a company based in Westbury-on-Trym that specializes in selling game products, has applied to South Somerset District Council for a change of use on the premises.

    Schools in Yeovil and South Somerset are looking for school governors for the coming academic year. Governor and Trustee roles are often held by parents of children at schools but becoming a school governor is open to anyone. 

    A new support group has been set up in Somerset specialising in helping expectant fathers. ‘Dad Matters’ has been launched locally by the charity Home Start which runs similar projects around the UK. The Somerset group aims to help new dads through pregnancy and birth, as well as signpost them to other support services.

    There's been a big increase in the number of young people taking the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Somerset following the pandemic. The latest figures show over 2,649 students are doing a Duke of Edinburgh award, that's up 800 on this time in 2019. 

    A new NHS facility is soon to open in Yeovil town centre. The Ophthalmology Diagnostics Centre is currently being fitted out in an empty shop in the Quedam Shopping Centre. The facility is located in the store formerly occupied by Monsoon and will provide eye care to local patients.
