    The Royal Bath and West Show has announced that it is coming back this year. Farmers and landowners in Somerset are being asked to spend thirty minutes each day recording what birds they see on their land.     The Royal Bath and West Show has announced that it is coming back this year, after taking a two-year break due to the pandemic. It'll return at the Bath and West Showground in Shepton Mallet beginning June 2nd and run for three days, featuring the usual livestock classes, exhibitions and entertainment.

    Farmers and landowners in Somerset are being asked to spend thirty minutes each day recording what birds they see on their land. The South West Game and Conservation Trust say it’s to check the effectiveness of current conservation schemes. The count is part of the annual Big Farmland Bird Count that launched nationally at the weekend. 

    St Margaret's Primary School in Tintinhull near Yeovil has received a letter from the Queen thanking them for planting trees for the Platinum Jubilee. Thirty saplings have been planted by children at the school in support of The Queen’s Green Canopy project. Headteacher Hayley Robinson says it’s the first time in the school’s 150-year history that a reigning monarch has written to school.

    People in Somerset are being given the chance to walk across hot coals to raise funds for St Margaret's Hospice. It's holding its second 'fire walk' later this month. Scott Bell, the two-time Guinness World Record holder for firewalking will be there to train people how to do it. For details of how to take part go to the St Margaret’s Hospice website.

    South Petherton Football Club has won the Perry Street & District League Premier Division title with two games still to play. They were confirmed title holders following their 2-1 win against Chard United at the weekend.
