    Bucklers Mead Academy

    Bucklers Mead Academy in Yeovil has received a ‘positive’ report from Ofsted. Nine positive Covid tests were reported across South Somerset in the 24-hour period to 5 pm on Monday. A new wildlife webcam has been set up to allow people tune in online to watch a barn owls. A plan is being launched to look at where beavers should and should not be reintroduced in South Somerset....and more.

    Bucklers Mead Academy in Yeovil has received a ‘positive’ report from Ofsted following an inspection in February. A previous report in 2019 rated Bucklers Mead as ‘inadequate’. Following the 2019 inspection, a new head was appointed and the senior leadership team at Buckler’s Mead was restructured

    Nine positive Covid tests were reported across South Somerset in the 24-hour period to 5 pm on Monday. The infection rate in the district stands at 47.5 per 100,000 people. 148 people have now died from Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic in South Somerset.

    A new wildlife webcam has been set up to allow people tune in online to watch a barn owl couple on the Blackdown Hills. It's hoped the owls called Finn and Orla will have eggs so people can watch them bring up their young. 

    A plan is being launched to look at where beavers should and should not be reintroduced in South Somerset. It's hoped the plan - being funded by the Somerset Rivers Authority - will prevent the animals being persecuted if released in an unsuitable location. 

    Yeovil United FC, previously known as Yeovil Ladies FC, is to merge with the women’s team at Bridgwater Town. The new club will be called Bridgwater United with games played at the new Bridgwater stadium beginning next season in September.
