A new dementia care home has been officially opened in Yeovil. The town’s Mayor, Evie Potts-Jones, cut a ribbon to launch Chestnut Lodge on Hendford Hill which has accommodation for thirty-nine residents.

New sports facilities are to be included within a major housing development planned on the outskirts of Yeovil. Wyatt Homes say it will provide four football pitches and a sports pavilion alongside the one-thousand homes that it plans to build on the Brimsmore Key Site at Brimsmore.

Staff at Yeovil Hospital, who are objecting to higher charges to park at work, have won the support of Keep Our NHS Public. The campaign group has described the new charges, which will see staff pay around forty-eight pounds a month to park on the hospital site, as unacceptable, especially at a time when health workers are striking for higher pay.

A celebration of Chard past, present and future is being held later this month. The Chard Spring Festival takes place over three days beginning April the 27th. Events include a guided walking tour around Chard's former lace-making factories.

Plans are being drawn up to hold a street party to celebrate the coronation of King Charles the Third on the aptly named Coronation Avenue in Yeovil. The event, with street entertainers and live bands, is being organised by the Westfield Community Association and takes place on Monday, May 8th, two days after the King's Coronation in Westminster Abbey.
