    A Langport man says he's frustrated at the visa system for Ukrainian families. Steve Dury applied for two families to live at his home a month ago but has faced numerous delays. Earlier this week, the families finally arrived in the UK. A government spokesperson says they are processing visas as quickly as possible but accepts that progress has not been quick enough.

    Buses will replace train services between Yeovil Junction and Honiton railway stations over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. It’s due to maintenance work being carried out on the line. It is starting tomorrow and will last for three days.

    Langport’s famous Hanging Chapel has been damaged after a lorry carrying a container smashed into it. Locals are concerned the Grade one structure dating back to the 13th century, could be unsafe. The incident happened on Tuesday at 7:45 am. The owner of the lorry has not been traced.

    The organisers of Yeovil Carnival which is planned to take place in October this year after an absence of seventeen years are seeking a headline sponsor. Chair of the carnival committee, Christine Lalla, says it will only be a walking parade this year but she is hoping businesses will give it their backing.

    An Ilminster butcher has received national recognition for its peppercorn steak grill burger. Bonners of Ilminster was one of twelve artisan butchers from across the UK to win, in their category at the Smithfield Star Awards in London earlier in the week.

    Somerset County Cricket Club has announced their new Chair, Sir Michael Barber, will join the club next month, taking over from Gordon Baird.
