    South West Highways has been awarded the contract to carry out improvements to Yeovil town centre. A Sherborne man has won his appeal against a conviction for encouraging illegal fox hunting in an online talk. The UK’s largest inflatable obstacle course is coming to Yeovil next month and Parents in Somerset whose children are in receipt of free school meals are being given food vouchers.

    South West Highways has been awarded the contract to carry out improvements to The High Street, Middle Street and The Borough in Yeovil town centre. The works, which are part of the Yeovil Refresh Project include widening footpaths, improving street lighting, building an amphitheatre in Lower Middle Street, and providing new facilities to hold street markets.

    A Sherborne man has won his appeal against a conviction for encouraging illegal fox hunting in an online talk. At an earlier hearing, Mark Hankinson, of Frampton Farm, Sherborne, and former Director of the Masters of Foxhounds Association, was found guilty of intentionally encouraging huntsmen to use trail hunting as a “smokescreen” for hunting foxes. But on appeal at Southwark Crown Court Mr Hankinson was cleared of the charge. 

    The UK’s largest inflatable obstacle course - The Labyrinth Challenge - is coming to Yeovil next month. The 1,000ft long course, includes hurdles, climbing walls, tunnels and slides. There’ll also be a cabaret-themed circus in a Big Top, along with funfair rides. The Summer XL Family Extravaganza is being staged at Yeovil Showground on the 13th and 14th of August and parents in Somerset whose children are in receipt of free school meals are being given food vouchers to cover the period of the school summer holidays.
