    The A3088 Cartgate Link Road in Yeovil will close for ten days later this month for the removal of diseased Ash trees. Plans have been passed to demolish the Octagon theatre in Yeovil and build a new theatre on the site.     The A3088 Cartgate Link Road in Yeovil will close for ten days later this month for the removal of diseased and dying Ash trees. Somerset County Council says the trees are a hazard for motorists and need to be urgently taken down. The A3088 between the Cartgate roundabout and the Garrador roundabout will be shut from Monday the 13th to Friday the 24th of February with diversions in operation.

    Plans have been passed to partially demolish the Octagon theatre in Yeovil and build a new theatre structure on the site. South Somerset District Council plan to spend £29 million pounds on the upgrade that will see 300 new seats, two cinema rooms, a fly tower and bar and restaurant area, added to the Octagon.

    Rail passengers are being warned that most trains won’t be running on Friday due to industrial action by the train drivers' union, Aslef. GWR who operate services through Castle Cary station says passengers should check timetables in advance. It says trains that do run are likely to be busier than normal and that refunds are available for tickets bought in advance.

    A visually impaired bowler from Yeovil is trying to raise four thousand pounds to compete in a tournament in Australia. Mo Perry has been selected at short notice to play for England at the International Blind Bowls World Championship in March. He says it's a real privilege to be chosen and very much wants to make the trip.

    Pitcombe Rock Falconry at Bruton is fundraising to relocate its birds to a rescue centre. It follows the closure of the Bruton School for Girls where the falconry is based.
