The A3088 Cartgate Link Road in Yeovil will close for ten days later this month for the removal of diseased and dying Ash trees. Somerset County Council says the trees are a hazard for motorists and need to be urgently taken down. The A3088 between the Cartgate roundabout and the Garrador roundabout will be shut from Monday the 13th to Friday the 24th of February with diversions in operation.
Plans have been passed to partially demolish the Octagon theatre in Yeovil and build a new theatre structure on the site. South Somerset District Council plan to spend £29 million pounds on the upgrade that will see 300 new seats, two cinema rooms, a fly tower and bar and restaurant area, added to the Octagon.
Rail passengers are being warned that most trains won’t be running on Friday due to industrial action by the train drivers' union, Aslef. GWR who operate services through Castle Cary station says passengers should check timetables in advance.
