Yeovil Town supporters have called an urgent meeting to discuss the current situation at the Club. It follows the announcement from Matt Uggla that his company SU Glovers Ltd has withdrawn from buying Yeovil Town and the on-going uncertainty over the club’s finances. In a statement, the Glovers Trust, who have organised tonight’s meeting, are calling on the directors at Yeovil Town to act immediately and decisively to secure the Club’s survival.

Motorists using the A303 between Sparkford and Ilchester are being advised of changes to the road layout. Due to on-going work dualling the three-mile section, new traffic flows have been introduced with drivers switching from one carriageway to another and using parts of the newly built road. National Highways says to avoid delays using the A303 between Sparkford and Ilchester, drivers should follow the temporary road signs.

The death has been announced of Councillor Mike Lewis. Councillor Lewis was a member of the new Somerset Council for Castle Cary and previously represented the Camelot ward on Somerset County Council and South Somerset District Council.

A gloving donkey, once used at a Yeovil gloving factory, has made an appearance on national TV. The work item, dating back to the early eighteen hundreds, was featured on ‘Bargain Hunt’. Joseph Lewis from the South Somerset Heritage Collection appeared on the programme to explain how gloving donkeys were used in the glove-making process.

Ilminster public tennis courts are out of action for the next eight weeks. The courts are being re-laid with tarmac, with work due to start next Tuesday. A new online booking system will operate when the courts re-open.
