Health managers are again asking the public to wear a face-covering when visiting Yeovil Hospital. They say the decision’s been made due to a rise in the number of patients infected with Covid being treated at Yeovil Hospital.

A new clinic to help people suffering from hard-to-heal leg ulcers has opened in Yeovil. NHS Somerset spends £70 million a year on treating wounds, with leg ulcers making up the largest part of the cost. James Coulston, a vascular surgeon at Yeovil Hospital, says the clinic is helping to lessen the burden on GP surgeries.

A Chard motorist has been banned from driving for six months for speeding. Tim Northcott of Ivy House in Chard was caught exceeding the 70 mph limit on the A30 near Exeter. Northcott, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was told to pay a fine and court costs of £220.

A garden party held in Ilminster has raised £2,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support. The event organized by Cottage Flowers in Horton Cross was attended by seventy guests.

A Business Fair is being held in Yeovil today (July 7th). Organised by Yeovil Chamber of Commerce, it’s taking place at the Innovation Centre, next to Yeovil Town Football Club’s ground. Around 30 businesses are attending with a second day being held tomorrow (July 8th). Admission is free.

Chard Natural Health Centre in Fore Street in Chard is opening its doors to the public this weekend. The Open Day event featuring talks on women's wellbeing, weight loss, and creative writing for wellbeing takes place this Saturday. Admission is free.
