An investigation is continuing today into yesterday’s crash of an historic aircraft belonging to RNAS Yeovilton. The plane, a World War Two Sea Fury T20, came down in a field about one mile away from the Yeovilton runway, close to the Lamb and Lark pub in Limmington. Navy Wings, who operate the Navy’s fleet of historic aircraft from the Yeovilton base, say the Sea Fury developed engine problems while on a training flight. The two pilots on board escaped without serious injuries but were taken to Yeovil Hospital for a precautionary check-up.
A man’s been arrested in connection with an attack on another man in Yeovil. The attack took place at a property in The Avenue, near Crofton Park, last Saturday. Police say the man’s been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released on conditional bail, pending further enquiries.
A music festival to be held in Bruton in late July has been granted a one-day extension. The gates to 'FarmFest' will now open on Thursday, July 29th a day earlier than originally planned. The festival will kick off proper with live bands and licensed bars on Friday July 30th and end late on Saturday, July 30th. Despite an objection from the Police, South Somerset District Council granted the extension after receiving reassurances about how the event would be policed and the number of people attending.
Kerbside recycling and rubbish collections will be a day later than normal next week. Due to the bank holiday, Monday’s pick-ups will be on Tuesday, through to Friday's taking place on Saturday. Meanwhile, homeowners are being reminded to renew their garden waste collection subscriptions. Due to Covid, payments made last year were extended. The extension runs out in early May. To be sure of having your garden waste picked up, you will need to renew your subscription by May 7th.
