Somerset’s Director of Public Health is asking local schools to keep their Covid precautions in place to ensure that nativity plays and carol concerts in schools this Christmas go ahead. Trudi Grant says that although hospital admissions of people with Covid have decreased locally, South Somerset, in particular, remains a hotspot for contracting the infection.

Councillor Linda Vijeh, Conservative ward member for Neroche ward, will leave the role at the end of December. Councillor Vijeh is also giving up her role as County Councillor for the Ilminster ward.

Police are appealing for the public's help in connection with a recent assault in Yeovil. The incident happened in Yeovil bus station in Glovers Walk on Thursday, October 28th at around 4.30 pm. Anyone who witnessed the attack is asked to call the police non-emergency number 101.

A school near Wincanton has applied for permission to build a conservation pond within the school grounds. The Meadows School in Cucklington has submitted a planning application to South Somerset District with a decision expected early in the New Year.
