The Lyde Road development was given the green light by 2019, meaning the northeast of Yeovil could be welcoming more than 1,000 new homes in the coming years. South Somerset District Council is due to consider the proposal by the late summer.

A Somerset man, killed in action during World War II, has been remembered with a memorial in his home village, Isle Brewers. The plaque to Sergeant Kenneth Brice, who grew up at Frog Lane Farm in Isle Brewers and worked at Yandles Garage in Martock prior to the outbreak of the war, can be seen at All Saints Church.
