    Police are investigating the theft of two horses in Martock. A former businesswoman in Yeovil has been given a 4-month suspended prison sentence. A farm building at Horsington, near Wincanton, has been damaged by fire. Somerset County Council has signed up for a new scheme aimed at helping military veterans find employment. New figures have shown that property prices in South Somerset increased by 1.6 percent in April.

    Police are investigating the theft of two horses in Martock. The stallions were taken from a field off Stapleton Close. The horses are described as a Chestnut Cobb and a Black Roan. Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

    A former businesswoman in Yeovil has been given a 4-month suspended prison sentence. Jane Goodfellow pleaded guilty at Taunton Crown Court to running Yeovil Wine Vaults Ltd despite being barred as a Director. Goodfellow – who was investigated by the Insolvency Service - also had her disqualification as a director extended by a further 10-years.

    A farm building at Horsington, near Wincanton, has been damaged by fire. Bales of hay and some machinery were destroyed in the blaze. Crews from Gillingham, Yeovil and Martock helped put out the fire.

    Somerset County Council has signed up for a new scheme aimed at helping military veterans find employment. Anyone who's left the Forces in the last five years or their partners can apply provided they meet the criteria for the job needing filling. Ronnie Allen from ‘Help for Heroes’ says veterans face particular difficulties when it comes to getting a job.

    New figures have shown that property prices in South Somerset increased by 1.6 percent in April. The rise contributes to a longer-term trend that has seen property prices increase in South Somerset year-on-year by 14.2 percent. According to the Land Registry, the average price of a house in South Somerset in April was £261,926.
