This compares to 46 people admitted with Covid during the same week in September. Meanwhile, South Western Ambulance is reminding people to get both a flu jab and a Covid booster before the winter sets in. The vaccines are aimed at people aged 50 and over and those in vulnerable groups. Flu jabs are free to the over 50s and pregnant women.

The most recent call was made last Friday with officers and the air ambulance despatched to Castle Cary only to find that it was another false alarm. Anyone with knowledge of the person or persons responsible is asked to contact Wincanton Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
