Police say the weapon used in Saturday’s armed robbery on a shop in Yeovil was a black handgun. It was used to threaten staff at the shop in Wessex Road before cash was taken. The raid happened at around 7.45 am Saturday morning. Police are still trying to trace two men seen running away from the shop following the robbery. If you have information that could help the police, you’re asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

Plans to build a new Business Enterprise Centre in Chard have been submitted to South Somerset District Council. Two blocks will be built, one with ten self-contained offices and two meeting rooms, the other with light industrial units. Somerset County Council has committed £4 million towards creating the business hub. South Somerset District Council is expected to make a decision on the application early in the New Year.

Drivers in Somerset are being warned to expect more deer on local roads due to it being the peak of the deer breeding season. Around 500 deer are hit or killed on roads in the county every year.

A former Crewkerne man serving a life sentence for killing his wife has been refused parole. Glyn Razzell, was found guilty of the murder of Linda Razzell in March 2002. The Parole Board say Razzell has refused to say where his wife’s body is, therefore he must remain in jail.

Police are investigating a spate of fuel thefts from vehicles in Chard. Vehicles parked in Jocelyn Park and Coles Place are amongst those targeted. Police are appealing for video footage of the vehicles being tampered with.
