A woman’s been seriously injured after the car in which she was travelling collided with a police car on the A 37 near Podimore. A pilot scheme involving e-scooters in Chard and Crewkerne has been scrapped. The go-ahead’s been given to build a new drive-thru Costa Coffee outlet in the car park of Morrisons on Lysander Road in Yeovil. A woman’s been seriously injured after the car in which she was travelling collided with a police car on the A 37 near Podimore. It happened between the A303 Podimore Roundabout and the turn off to Charlton Adam at around 8.30 pm on Sunday night as the police car was responding to an emergency call. If you witnessed the crash or, have dashcam footage, you’re asked to call the Police non-emergency number 101.

A pilot scheme involving e-scooters in Chard and Crewkerne has been scrapped. Both towns have withdrawn from the trial following numerous complaints about public safety. Chard and Crewkerne are the first towns in Somerset to exit the scheme which is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging more sustainable forms of transport in urban areas.

The go-ahead’s been given to build a new drive-thru Costa Coffee outlet in the car park of Morrisons on Lysander Road in Yeovil. Morrisons say its car park will reduce in size by 49 spaces.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset is encouraging people to get involved with celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June this year. Annie Maw wants individuals and communities to plant trees, light beacons and hold street parties. Her deputy, Ted Allen, says the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a great opportunity for people to come together.

Figures just out show that 230 people were arrested on drink and drug driving offences over the Christmas period in the Avon and Somerset Police force area. Police say more than 600 drivers were stopped at 33 roadside operations.

A Chard man’s been awarded the British Empire Medal for his services during the Covid Pandemic. Jason Hawkes was named in the Queens New Years Honours for his work as the founder and Chair of the Chard Covid-19 Volunteer Support Group.
