Police are investigating an attack on a teenage boy in Martock. Business leaders in Somerset have described the delay in lifting coronavirus restrictions as a 'hammer blow'. Police are investigating an attack on a teenage boy in Martock. They say he was set upon by a group of other youths and suffered bruised ribs and a broken arm. It happened in a play park off Bracey Road last Thursday, June 10th. Anyone with information that could help the police is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

Business leaders in Somerset have described the delay in lifting coronavirus restrictions until July 19th as a 'hammer blow'. UK Hospitality say the move will cost around three-billion pounds in lost sales. Meanwhile, Director of Public Health for Somerset, Trudi Grant, says the county has low covid numbers but that the figure is rising every day.

The NFU in Somerset has given a cautious welcome to the new trade deal between the UK and Australia. It’s the first major trade deal to be implemented from scratch since the UK left the EU with the government insisting it will be good for the agricultural sectors of both countries nevertheless, the Chairman of the Somerset NFU Tom Kimber says the agreement is short on detail.

A new report is calling for the introduction of weekend and evening visits for people who receive home care. In their report, based on phone interviews and an online survey, Healthwatch Somerset says as the older population in Somerset grows so does the demand for district nursing and community services. They want the Somerset District Nursing Service to care for more patients at home, to keep people living in communities and out of hospital.

Staff at the Nationwide Building Society in Yeovil are raising funds to buy a defibrillator to locate in Middle Street. It follows an incident in which a man died after going into cardiac arrest outside the bank in Middle Street. Local manager, Julie Turner, says training events will be held for the public to learn how to use the defibrillator.
