Police are appealing for witnesses after items, including a brick, were thrown from the top floor of the car park at the Tesco store in Yeovil, narrowly missing a baby in a pushchair and others who were walking over a zebra crossing. The incident happened last Thursday afternoon. Police are looking for two youths wearing dark clothing seen on the top deck of the Tesco store car park at Huish. Anyone with dashcam footage of two youths matching the description or, who can help in any other way, is asked to call the non-emergency number 101.

A builder from Somerset who drove to Poland with donations of clothing and other items to give to Ukrainian refugees is now encouraging people to give money instead of goods to help with the war effort. Graham Monks drove 2,000 miles to Poland with things that he says he could have bought in Poland.

Two new care homes could soon be built in Chard. Plans to build a seventy-bed care home on East Street near the Lidl supermarket were submitted in May last year. Now, a second care home with sixty-six beds on Furnham Road has been proposed. South Somerset District Council is expected to make a decision on both applications in the autumn.

The RSPB is urging us to watch our steps and keep dogs on leads when walking at its nature reserves. It's to protect ground-nesting birds as we head into their breeding season.

Frome has been named as an example of a town encouraging local pride and boosting its high street. A report from the Federation of Small Businesses called ‘Freedom, Funding and Fearlessness’ says towns need the freedom to work out what they need and the funding to support new initiatives. It’s highlighted Frome’s independent market as an example of how a town can attract more shoppers.
