Price increases in the cost of buying a second-hand car have shown no sign of abating despite the rise in living costs, according to a garage owner in South Somerset. Local charity School in a Bag based in Chilthorne Domer has launched an appeal to provide children affected by the flooding in Pakistan with learning materials. Price increases in the cost of buying a second-hand car have shown no sign of abating despite the rise in living costs, according to a garage owner in South Somerset. John Sugg of West Country Cars at East Chinnock says average used vehicle prices have increased by over three thousand pounds in the past two years and that demand for used cars remains as high as ever.

Local charity School in a Bag based in Chilthorne Domer has launched an appeal to provide children affected by the flooding in Pakistan with learning materials. Luke Simon from the charity says their school bags will allow children to keep on learning while schools remain closed. You can donate to the appeal on the School in a Bag website.

A former chapel in the village of Misterton has been put up for sale. The building on Middle Street dates back to 1870 and is described as ideal for redevelopment. It’s being sold by auction with a guide price of £105,000.

A former pig farm at Haselbury Plucknett near Crewkerne could be converted into four houses. Plans have been submitted to South Somerset District Council to change the use of the agricultural building into two large dwellinghouses and two small dwellinghouses.

Somerset County Cricket Club has announced that they've signed Sean Dickson. The 30-year-old opening batter will join the Club from Durham on a three-year deal, ahead of the new 2023 season.

Preparations are in full swing for this year’s Chard Carnival. Chard Carnival was held without traditional carts last year but this year it will be back to normal. Carnival Week in Chard begins on October 2nd with the carnival procession on Saturday, October 8th.
