Health managers in Somerset are urging eligible people to get another dose of Covid vaccine as part of the Spring Booster programme. People with weakened immune systems, like those with blood cancer or who've had a transplant, should book an appointment six months after their first booster. The NHS says infection rates are still high in the South West.

The discount supermarket B & M has submitted plans to open a new garden centre at their Yeovil store on Lysander Road. B & M says if the application is approved, the garden centre would be built at the rear of the store and would create up to six new local jobs.

Crewkerne is on a list of towns where Lidl would like to build a new supermarket. Lidl, the sixth largest supermarket chain in the UK, is looking to purchase a site large enough for a building with 26,000 square feet of floor space and parking for 100 cars. It’s offering a finder’s fee to the person who finds a site matching that description in Crewkerne and that subsequently gains planning permission for a supermarket.

A twelve-year-old Somerset boy has been crowned Junior Young Shepherd of the Year. Thomas, who manages a flock of sheep at Hatch Beauchamp, picked up the award at Springtime Live held in Harrogate.

A man from Chard is planning to have a head, beard and full body wax to raise money for the mental health charity, MIND. Steven Davies will stage his charity event at Perry Street Social Club on Saturday, April 30th, at 7:30 pm, with all funds going to MIND.

Members of Yeovil College’s men's football seven-a-side team are celebrating a major victory. At a multi-sports event organized by the Association of Colleges in Nottingham, the Yeovil team won the final of the AoC Sport National Championships seven-a-side competition.
