A Somerset man, whose life was saved by a defibrillator, is supporting a campaign for a register of locations of all public defibrillators. Campaigners in Somerset are urging the government to go further in tackling raw sewage discharges into local rivers. A Somerset man, whose life was saved by a defibrillator, is supporting a campaign for a register of locations of all public defibrillators. The British Heart Foundation is concerned that defibrillators are not fully used because the pubic, including the emergency services, don’t always know where they are located. Rick Payne was treated with a defibrillator when he suffered a cardiac arrest. He says it's vital that people know where to find the machines when one is needed.

Campaigners in Somerset are urging the government to go further in tackling raw sewage discharges into local rivers. MP’s have faced criticism after rejecting an amendment to the Environment Bill, which would have placed a legal duty onto water companies. Ministers insist the Bill already contains a number of binding obligations.

Eighteen new homes could be built on the site of a former care home in Templecombe. Plans have been submitted to demolish the Knights Templar Court Nursing Home on Throop Road and develop the site for housing. South Somerset District Council are due to consider the application in the New Year.

A Somerset inventor has launched a new strategy board game called ‘Prometheus’ and has sent the game to the Prime Minister for him to try out. Christopher Curtis has now received a letter back from Boris Johnson, expressing his gratitude.

Somerset Community Council is marking ninety-five years this month of its inception. The organization that provides funding and volunteers to support local communities was founded in October 1926; the same year the Queen was born.

A new shop is opening in the Quedam offering help to people with putting on an event. "The Events Store" in Vicarage Walk will be a one-stop-shop for booking artistes and mobile disco’s, caterers, venues and for buying tickets to events.
